A man was arrested on Monday night after witnesses at MBTA’s North Station Commuter Rail claim to have observed him punching his puppy with his fist. According to the MBTA Transit Police, the man accused of the cruel behavior is identified as 46-year-old John Bowen of Boston, Massachusetts.
A witness was able to capture video of the assault and show the video evidence to responding authorities. According to the police, the video showed Bowen “striking his dog with a closed fist, kneeling on the dog in a forceful manner and lifting the dog off the ground by it’s leash.” The witness statements, in addition to the video evidence, was enough for the authorities to place Bowen under arrest.
The victimized dog, an 11-month-old Husky named “Sarah,” was taken in by the City of Boston Animal Control and brought to Angel Memorial for evaluation.
Bowen was placed into custody for Cruelty to Animals and transported to TPD HQ for the arrest booking process.
