A hunter was impaled by the dead elk’s antler he had just killed, after crashing his ATV on Saturday as he made his way back to camp. According to KatuNews, Gary Heeter, 69, of Bend, Oregon had been out hunting with his friends in the Maury Mountains.

As Heeter dragged the elk’s body behind his ATV and started the climb up a steep hill, the front of his vehicle flipped over sending Heeter backyards directly into the elk’s antler. Members of the hunting party applied emergency first aid to control the bleeding. Sheriff’s Sgt. Ryan Seaney called for Crook County Fire and Medical to help until an emergency medical helicopter was able to transport Heeter to the hospital.

Heeter is currently listed in stable condition at the St. Charles Hospital in Bend.

  1. I’m trying to muster up some sympathy for this “hunter” but I think maybe he should find another way to transport his “kill” the next time.

  2. GOOD NEWS HERE FOLKS! You asshole there is plenty of meat in the market for you to eat. God knows Americans love there meat! And to call deer hunting a sport, it would be if the deer had a gun. then it would be an EQUAL SPORT! Too bad it didn’t poke this assholes eye out, so he couldn’t see to kill more “INNOCENT DEERS” WHICH ARE SO BEAUTIFUL… LEAVE the DEERS ALONE ASSHOLES, I DESPISE MEN WHO HUNT, IT IS A HUGE TURN OFF!

    • The meat in the grocery store was also a live animal that lived a very terrible life and was murdered in a horrific way and never got to run through the fields like the elk, never got to nurse their offspring. So buying meat in the market is even worse in my opinion and also why I am vegan.

  3. I understand many families depend on the success of seasonal hunts to feed their families. I can’t help but think this was a little bit of karma at play.

  4. He got just what he deserves. Bummer he is still alive. I would get great pleasure in knowing that the elk had the last act of revenge.
