Recently, a hospital allowed a dog named “Mollie,” to enter the building to say good-bye to her dying human. The touching, albeit heartbreaking, visit was posted on social media on December 1, and subsequently shared by thousands of Facebook users.
The Facebook post, made by Michelle Jessen, explains:
The hospital did the sweetest thing for us and allowed us to bring my brother’s dog in to “say goodbye” so she’d know why her human never came home. If you knew my brother, he really loved his sweet dog.
The sad good-bye took place after 33-year-old Ryan Jessen was admitted to the hospital with a ventricular brain hemorrhage…according to Jessen’s sister, he though that he had a horrible migraine, not something which would prove to be fatal.
Michelle thanked those who have reached out with words of sympathy – she wrote, “We are sincerely touched and humbled by others’ stories, their sharing in our sadness and the kindness of so many people.”
Jessen has a word of assurance for those who are concerned about Mollie’s fate – she wrote, “Don’t worry about the dog! We’re keeping her!!! She’s part of the family.”

You are all wonderful loving caring people. Mollie is blessed. Prayers for your brother.
I wish we could have been able to do this for my Dad when he was dying in hospital.
His 2 dogs searched for him for over a year & would sit on “his” space on the sofa “waiting for him”……
We now have them (& they are VERY loved & treasured members of our family). But I think they should have been able to see my Dad & “say goodbye”….. they would have understood that he wasn’t coming home again…..
My lord, what a beautiful thing the hospital did for this young man. May he finds peace. Sending love and prayers to Mollie. Thank this family for keeping her, most families just take them to kill shelters because they do not want to be bothered. What a relief.
I am so sorry for your loss … I lost my sister December 2015 … God bless you and your family for keeping the dog in your family that she knows ….
God bless your loving family. So happy you are keeping his pet safe and sound.
This is the kind of family that loves the son, loves the son’s dog. They know keeping the dog safe and loving him is what would have given their son comfort in his last moments.
