A horribly wounded puppy, with a fractured skull, was abandoned in a box which had been left out in the cold. According to Thursday’s ABC 7 News, the Chihuahua puppy was discovered on Tuesday by a man who was on the Old Oregon Trail in Redding, California.
Jeremy Gasser, the man who discovered the injured and whimpering eight-week-old Chihuahua puppy, told ABC 7, “I thought I was hearing things, and I said no not today. And I [saw] a pamper box sitting over here. Went over and there she was just laying on the blanket cold.”
The puppy was transported to an area humane society for care – there, the extent of the devastating injuries was determined. Captain Lee Anne Smith, with Haven Humane Society commented on the distressed pup with the smashed skull (who was actually determined to be a male),
“Wouldn’t even register on our thermometer so we decided the best option at that point was to go ahead and put him down for his health,”
Gasser is upset that someone abused and abandoned the puppy – he expressed his disgust to ABC 7, “I still cry. Cause someone sits there and does that to a dog. You know that dog could have been with a family, could have been with kids playing but now they had to put her down because some fool abused her.”
Last weekend, another injured and abandoned puppy was discovered in Arizona – read more here.
