There are angels everywhere! In Huntsville, Texas, a Good Samaritan reunited a homeless man with his dog; the woman’s story is truly inspirational. love-what-matters-2

Wilma Price had been leaving the local Walmart just a few days ago when she noticed a homeless man sitting on the side of the road holding a sign, “My dog is in the pound -help!” And so the woman stops; vastly familiar with the array of signs so often posted by the homeless stating “Lost my job,” or “I need a beer.” Something however tells Wilma to pull over, and as she hands the man her card, he tells her it would cost $120 to get his dog out of the pound.love-what-matters-3

Not sure if the homeless man was telling the truth and only having $8.00 in her wallet, Wilma verifies the story with the shelter and is told the man’s dog is in the shelter and why the fee to release him is so steep:

“I asked him why so much the pound said because $35 was for an impoundment fee; then they gave it rabies shots, got a heart worm test, and yes the dog was negative and put a flea prevention and they said yes the dog was in good shape; so now when I don’t have a dime to my name I call a dear friend and sponsor money and I tell her about this guy. She says we’ll go back and find out his story so I did; 30 years old and his name is Patrick. I talked to him for a few minutes and he told me his circumstances and stuff, and I told him – well I’m getting the money to get your dog out so let’s go down to the pound.”love-what-matters-4

And off they went to the shelter, paid the fees and Patrick was given the necessary paperwork to reclaim his dog:

“Franklin is the dog’s name; he was shaking when he came out of the pound he was so happy. Happy to see the man so sometimes you just have to dig deeper and do what’s right in your heart. That man loves that dog. On his backpack was the dog’s bowl and toys. He’s helping the dog against the world, the man was very very grateful he had tears in his eyes when the dog came out.”

Everyone has been in a bad situation; not necessarily as tragic as Patrick’s, but one never knows how paying it forward could mean the world to just one person.

“I know for a fact that man loves his dog, and he tried to give me the money he had collected. I wouldn’t accept it because maybe he can have some dinner tonight. He said his dog eats before he does. Wow that sounds like me too, I wish I had the money to get the man a room for a week and let him regroup him and Franklin, but unfortunately I don’t. All I can do is give him his dog and pray that life gives the man a break. I cried after the man and Franklin left. I dropped them back off in the Walmart parking lot in Huntsville, Texas. God please bless Patrick in Franklin tonight.”patrick-and-franklin
