In the rural area of Franklin, Kentucky, a tiny dog locked in a pet carrier and left to suffer a slow torturous death hidden under a bush near a creek has died. Heaven the little dog

Brought to the Simpson County Animal Shelter, rescued and kept comfortable by the Fix Foundation and transferred on Thursday to Blue Pearl Veterinary Services in Louisville by the Arrow Fund, the little dog’s  life hung in limbo; her injuries listed as including being severely dehydrated pup – little more than skin and bones and barely responsive. Her skin was scalded from the urine and feces inside of her carrier, her nose was red as she tried desperately to scratch her way out of her tiny prison, her ears red and sore and her feet swollen from the burning urine floating in the bottom of the filthy hell.

Tragically Heaven’s initial  veterinarian examination revealed the extent of her injuries. On the Arrow Fund Facebook, Rebecca updated the sweet 2.8 pound dog’s  critical status:

“Heaven remains critical. It is suspected on top of being left to die in this manner that she was poisoned. She is being treated to reversed the toxins. Heaven is also at this time not mentally appropriate. It looks as if she is looking at you in these pictures, but at this time she is not aware. Earlier tonight her temperature started to drop but after using warming blankets her temperature is back up and holding. She is unable to eat yet or drink. Heaven is on IV pain meds, antibiotics, and fluids. She has low glucose and increased sodium and chloride. She is suffering from extreme low white cell count (neutropenia) . There are possible early signs of pneumonia. She is extremely thin . She also has possible DIC .”

Veterinarians had been hoping for the best. Shortly after posting Heaven’s medical status, she suffered from cardiac arrest and all attempts to resuscitate her were unsuccessful. The heartbreaking news ended with Rebecca’s call to action:

“PLEASE HARVEST THAT ANGER AND JOIN OUR ARMY AGAINST ABUSE. WE NEED TO ALL BAND TOGETHER AND WORK TO STOP LETTING PEOPLE GET BY WITH ACTS LIKE THIS IN OUR STATE AND IN OUR WORLD . HEAVEN FOUGHT SO HARD. PERHAPS IF WE HAD GOTTEN TO HER SOONER…. WHO KNOWS . WE TRIED SO HARD TO SAVE THIS BABY. PLEASE KNOW THAT SHE WAS LOVED AND HELD AND CARED FOR AND SHE WILL ALWAYS BE A PART OF OUR FAMILY . WHAT MONSTER WOULD DO THIS TO A 2.86 POUND BABY ? VERY EMOTIONAL RIGHT NOW …. THANKS TO ALL WHO CARED FOR BABY HEAVEN.
WITH TEARS IN MY EYES.”

Rest in peace Heaven.  We are heartbroken cruel and abusive people let this happen to you.
