Pima Animal Care Center rescued 40 small breed dogs from a hoarding situation including an adorable Chihuahua born with no front legs.

According to a press release by Pima County Animal Care and Control,  the 39 other dogs, mainly poodle, terrier and Chihuahua mixes, under four years of age were in relatively good health, but needed baths and grooming. The owner of the dogs cooperated and signed custody of the animals over to Pima County where the dogs have  been receiving veterinary care and made available for adoption. Most of the dogs have already been adopted except for a mother dog with very young puppies and a few other dogs still suffering from parasites.

And then there is Roo – and although there is little that can be done for her condition, the Friends of Pima Animal Center have been raising funds for a specially designed wheelchair for the spunky little one-year-old with the greatest disposition who absolutely does not let her physical challenges interfere with her zest for life.

“PACC has done everything they can in-house … now Roo needs to see an orthopedic specialist, who can determine what she needs to lead a happy, healthy life. She may need costly surgery on her arthritic hip, and she will likely need a custom mobility cart so little Roo can roll!”

A YouCaring site for Roo can be found here or call (520) 288-1151.
