Help came too late for a dog who was left inside of a parked car in Colchester, Vermont, this week. The dog, a four-year-old Labrador retriever, was locked in a car that was parked outside the Fanny Allen campus of the University of Vermont Medical Center on College Parkway on Monday afternoon; a passerby noticed the heartbreaking situation and alerted campus police.

According to WCAX News, police arrived after being notified about the situation, but it was too late – the dog was inside of a car that reached 125 degrees inside, and by the time the police forced their way into the car and the dog was removed, the heat had already taken a deadly toll.

The person identified as the owner of the dog has been identified as 54-year-old Stacey Barrientos. According to the Burlington Free Press, Barrientos has been issued a citation and she must appear in court on October 6. The authorities have asked for anyone with information about this situation to call them at 802-264-5555.

  1. A citation? This needs to be a FELONY! The filthy POS deserves to be locked in that car with the windows rolled up for exactly as long as she forced her dog to do so, and she must be dressed all in wool with boots, a hat, gloves, knee socks, etc. NO water! IF she survives, they can take what’s left to jail. Oh, that’s right— SHE can sweat, but her dog couldn’t, so as miserable as she would be, her dog was that much worse. That bitch cooked her dog to death: she deserves to know what it feels like to sizzle a bit…..

  2. This is disgusting! What reason is there to take your dog in the car and leave it to die? A citation, really? This is criminal, a pet owner should be responsible enough to know their dog could die if they do such a thing, She needs more than a slap on the wrist!

  3. All 50 STATES NEED to PASS a LAW so PEOPLE CAN BREAK into a VEHICLE WHEN THEY SEE AN ANIMAL IN DISTRESS without HAVING to WAIT for THE AUTHORITIES TO ARRIVE MINUTES ARE CRUCIAL IN BEING ABLE TO SAVE A LIFE and a HORRIFIC DEATH IN ALOT OF CASES!!!!!

    • There should definitely be a law against owners that leave there pets in hot cars. People just don’t get it. The inside of this car went up to 125 deg. Of course the dog died. How can we show these people how to be respsible pet owners. They don’t learn, they need to leave pets at home. How would they like being in a hot car. She needs a hefty fine, and some time in jail, for the death of her dog.
