In a bizarre and extremely disturbing event on Monday afternoon, a Garland, Texas man climbed over the fence of a family’s home and killed their puppy, reports the Dallas News.
Fermin Rivera, 28, hopped over the fence of homeowner Guadalupe Gonzales’ backyard and cornered her five-month-old Maltese-Bichone named Poseidon Jr., beat the puppy to death and then started to bury it in the yard. The entire scene was captured on the family’s home surveillance video.
The defenseless puppy can be seen barking at Rivera and trying to hide, but the heartless culprit reaches for the dog and “smashes” the dog twice against the concrete patio. And then he finds a shovel and begins to bury the dying dog. When authorities arrived, Rivera told them he lived there and his wife had been inside of the home. None of that was true. Garland Police suspect Rivera was under the influence of an illegal substance. He has been charged with felony animal cruelty and attempted burglary of a home and remains at the Dallas County Jail with an immigration hold.
Gonzales had recently purchased PJ for her three young children who were home at the time. Rest in peace little puppy.
