In Hall County, Georgia, a Gainesville man has been arrested in connection with tying a dog to the railroad tracks and leaving him there to be run over by a train. According to WalbNews, Gerardo Damian Rosas was arrested and charged with felony aggravated animal cruelty.
In November, police were called in reference to a deceased dog on the railroad tracks off of White Sulphur Road. Director of Hall County Animal Services, Mike Ledford, issued the following statement on Monday as to the dog’s horrible suffering and death. Who can even imagine how terrified this dog had to have been when he saw and heard the train aiming directly for him and he couldn’t move to escape?
“There was evidence that the dog had been purposefully tied to the tracks, which ultimately led to his death. This was an egregious act of cruelty against a defenseless animal, and our department works tirelessly to hold those responsible for such acts accountable.”
According to jail records, Rosas has since been released. No motive has been giving for this horrific act. This is a developing story; more details as they are made available.
Rest in peace innocent dog.
