Just one day after Thanksgiving, a woman in Staten Island, New York, discovered an emaciated dog chained to a tree not far from her home. According to SIlive.com,  Laura Cavalleri’s heart was broken when she saw the skeletal dog tethered to the tree – she was unable to keep the abandoned dog, but went to work to try and find somewhere safe for him to go.

Fortunately, a rescue group was able and willing to take the abandoned dog under its wing. On Friday, Pluto Rescue updated Facebook followers about the dog:

RESCUED!! This severely malnourished male Pitbull was found tied to a tree near Van Duzer Street and Baring Place in the Stapleton section of Staten Island. He is now at the Staten Island Vet Group under our care.

According to the rescue agency, the frail dog weighs just 31 pounds – half of what a healthy dog of his bred should weigh. The dog is no longer suffering alone – the group plans to get him healthy, and then find him a new home.

Pluto Rescue has named the dog Bronson – Donations to aid in Bronson’s care can be made via PayPal at the group’s website, http://members.petfinder.com/~NY190/ or via snail mail to:

  2. Thank Heaven this dog was found and is now safe. I pray he can be saved and rehomed to a life where TLC is the norm. God bless this dog.

  3. I hope the person who did this to the poor dog dies a long painful death. Thank you to the lady who found him and cared enough to get him help. Thanks to the rescue who is helping him and gave him a name. Here’s to Bronson getting well and finding a happy fur ever home where he will be loved.
