UPDATE: Safe

In one of the most heartbreaking stories of the day, Belle’s family surrendered her to Carson Animal Care in California because they suddenly became “too busy.” And yes, Belle is a 15-year-old senior  whose life was  just not important enough to her previous family and is now at the shelter so very confused and alone.

Click here for Bella’s  Pet Harbor listing.  #IDA1410881  “My name is Belle and I am described as a spayed female, tan and white Chihuahua – Smooth Coated. The shelter thinks I am about 15 years old. I have been at the shelter since Sep 16, 2016. For more information about this animal, call Los Angeles County Animal Control – Carson at (310) 523-9566. A Facebook page for Belle can be found here. Volunteers describe her heartbreaking situation:

One of the most heartbreaking Owner Surrender’s on this day full of them is BELLA. She is 15 and suddenly her family became too busy for this beautiful soul. She is already spayed and CAN GO HOME TODAY!! Please SHARE so she doesn’t have to spend one more moment scared and alone in the shelter thinking she did something terrible.”

Another volunteer posted the following after meeting her:

“She is very sweet, has a good spirit, and her med issues are small, dental tartar, overweight and cloudy eye…she was the one of 3 in her kennel with the most energy! She’s awesome.”

Watch Belle’s video. She just wants to get out of her cage. Please share her plight with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contacts. Help Belle find a home – sharing saves lives.

  1. I lost my senior Coonhound girl, Suki, back in April. She was 15. I would have loved another few years with her. I can’t even imagine NOT keeping her with me for as long as possible. I hope the one(s) who dumped this sweet senior has the same thing happen to them – some day their kids will take them to the worst nursing home and just leave them there. Sharing and praying this sweet dog finds a loving home for however many more days, months, or years they may have.

  2. Of course, had the dog probably for most of her 15 years and now “too busy” to take care of her. “Too cheap” more likely, she probably needs more vet attention so the money is an issue to take proper care of her. How I hate people sometimes!

  3. That poor little girl!!! I have a 15-year-old dog and I can’t even FATHOM doing this to him. Why are they suddenly “too busy” now? This makes me SICK!!! Praying this beautiful girl gets a forever home, where she will be loved and cherished until it’s her time to cross the Rainbow Bridge. :'(

  4. I just lost my beloved cat 2 weeks before his 15th birthday. I still cry or think about him. And my senior dog is going on 11.
I just cannot imagine dumping an older pet simply because as we all do, they age.
It is the utmost in cruelty
