Pet owners have been warned, ad nauseam, about the dangers of leaving their dogs inside of parked cars…but two dogs in West Virginia have just accomplished something that will put one more “caution” on the list of things to worry about. According to Friday’s WSAZ News, two dogs left inside of a vehicle which was parked at a Walmart store managed to get the car moving and “drive” into the side of the store.
A store employee noticed that a car was slowly moving out of a parking space and towards her at the Walmart in Wayne…the employee’s initial thought was that it was a joke of some sort, but then she caught sight of the driver. Behind the wheel was a dog, not a person.
Moments later, she noticed a second dog sitting in the passenger seat. Though the dogs were clever enough to get the car in drive, they were not able to make it stop and the vehicle drove into the side of the store.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the odd crash – the owner of the vehicle was paged and it was a senior woman who stated that she had left her car running to keep her two dogs cool while she shopped. The car was in good enough condition following the incident that the woman was able to drive away.

Better that than the alternative, although the car could have hit someone.
i told you .dogs are little kids wearing fur.the animals are just kids wearing fur.the dogs was smart in what they did.just like a human kid would have done also.
They have probably been watching the Subaru commercials with the Golden’s driving. LOL I’m glad they weren’t hurt.
People, leave your dogs home if you are going shopping. Even if you leave the air on and the car running, this sort of thing can happen. It’s lucky someone or the dogs weren’t hurt.
Or the car could have been stolen and the dogs hurt or killed when the thieves left them in the car when they dumped it. She was lucky in many ways.
Although IT was not the GREATEST Solution I commend the little lady that chose to leave her car running and go do her shopping….. She should have put the little guys in a kennel and kept a spare key prior to leaving them in control of her car!!!! Lucky NO ONE was injured Even the little guys with NO license!!!! Will they be charged with driving without a License!!! LOL
I agree with you but just wanted to point out that it does not state that the car was not locked. When I am traveling and have to run in a gas station I leave running with a spare set of keys.
Luckily they didn’t hit the heat function as that happened last year to a lady that thought she was doing a good thing for her dogs while she went shopping as well. Unfortunately they did die from that mistake. Glad these 2 were ok.
