On Thursday, a handsome German shepherd named “Axel,” was surrendered to the Carson Animal Services facility in Gardena, California. According to the Saving Carson Shelter Dogs Facebook page, the four-year-old shepherd has an injured leg and his prior owner felt that giving the dog up was the best option.

The post on Axel’s behalf describes the owner’s decision to surrender the German shepherd to the animal control agency, “His owner took him to the vet and was given meds but spent so much money he felt he had to give him up when he saw no improvement in his health. Captain Care came to his aid and sent him to the Vet but he was upset with the long line and decided to come back and surrender him anyway.”

Saving Carson Shelter Dogs added:

He is so special, good with everyone and other dogs and he is AVAILABLE NOW!!! He won’t do well in the Shelter!

Axel needs for someone to take a chance – someone who can get him to a veterinarian, patiently wait for an appointment and exam, and find out how to make this handsome boy feel better. Please help Axel find a rescue agency or adopter by taking a moment to share his adoption information.

  1. So it was too much trouble to stand in line to get help for your dog? They just used his injury as an excuse to get rid of him, shame on them! Praying he finds a good home.

    • Thanks for doing this; did she find a good home.? I used to have a German Shepard named Shasta.. Loved her.. She died of old age and other illness over 20 years ago. What fantastic dogs German shepards are!

  2. So Axels owner didn’t want to wait his turn to help this precious guy!! This may not make it on here but that guy is a real SHIT HEAD!!! I don’t think he wanted the dog to begin with. How sad for such a beautiful guy to have lived with this man!! I had a black lab that I drove for 3hrs one way to a college teaching vet hospital..spent over $10,000.00 for her care!! THAT is how a true owner takes care of their beloved pets!! Yes I used my inheritance to do it but NEVER regretted it. I lost her to cancer after 2 1/2 yrs.and would do it again!!! THAT PERSON DEFINITELY DID NIT WANT AXEL TO BEGIN WITH!!
