When a friendly hound dog found himself in a rather precarious predicament, luckily area residents and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals from Newcastle and North Numberland, England came to his rescue, reports the ChronicleLive.
Eight-year-old hound dog Denver must have tried to scale the six-foot fence and somehow pierced his paws – leaving him painfully hanging by his lower legs. Area homeowners found the dog; no one knew how long he had been hanging there, but until help arrived neighbors tried their best to make him comfortable.
“They…… dragged a mattress underneath him so that his legs were able to touch the ground and between the three of us we managed to get him down,” described Animal Control Officer Brian Moffitt. “They were brilliant and there’s no way I could have carried out the rescue without their help.”
When finally freed, Denver was completely exhausted and just collapsed on the ground. Rushed to an emergency vet hospital, Denver went into shock and for several days he was on intravenous drips to help with the pain and the damage done to his paws. Although he still has a long way to go until he recovers, the very friendly dog is being cared for at the RSPCA. No one knows to whom he belongs – anyone with information as to Denver’s family is asked to contact 0797395257.
