On Tuesday, the cutest one-year-old puppy was left at the San Bernardino City Animal Shelter sadly watching his family as they walked away. Known as the busiest time of the year for shelters, too often irresponsible owners surrender their pets before leaving on vacation. Will they then be back in the fall before school starts to adopt another dog? Wolfie 3

Wolfie, an unaltered buff coated terrier mix, knows something is wrong. Although just a youngster, his facial expression reflects the sadness and heartbreak he feels as he cannot comprehend being abandoned. Surrendered dogs do not have a required holding period and may be euthanized at anytime depending on overcrowded conditions, health and demeanor.

Click here for Wolfie’s Pet Harbor listing. ID#A495761  “My name is Wolfie and I am an unaltered male, buff Terrier mix. Shelter staff think I am about 1 year old. I have been at the shelter since Jul 12, 2016.” For more information about this animal, call San Bernardino City Animal Control at (909) 384-1304.wolfie 2

  1. This is a HEARTBREAKING PHOTO!!! the loss of his family at such a young age & the Loss of HIS very Short Lived Life a Serious Possibility at San Bernardino unless a rescue or family comes to HIS RESCUE !!!!

  2. I am crying for Wolfie for I do not even know I’ve not been on vacation for about eight years I just don’t trust anybody to watch my dogs I’d rather suffer but yet the family that only will she turn them in because you’re going on vacation I hope to God you people smart enough not to give him for hurt dogs UPS priceless I just don’t see how they could work out like that I lost my coon dog if 16 years of age every time I feed the rest I still think about her and cry hope God can sit down one day and these people that are so cruel to animals really do something about that

  3. Their name should be put on all dog rescues SPCA and Animal Control list so they cannot adopt again if I was in California I would take this their name should be put on all dog rescues SPCA and Animal Control list so they cannot adopt again if I was in California I would take this Little baby shame on them

  4. Hi how is everybody I am Edward I live in Pennsylvania today is my birthday I asked for one thing and I got it there was a cute little dog a wolf that was brought in on Tuesday the 13th they showed a picture of pet rescue it seemed that the owners decided they didn’t need him anymore don’t worry I did the crying for him seen his face watching them walk out and only being a year but I called up and got an update on Wealthy from Darren at the San Bernardino California Animal Shelter my birthday present when she got rescued praise the Lord

  5. Trash that turn family dogs in to shelters need to be put on a No Own list. They should be prevented from ever owning a dog.

  6. We cannot have it both ways–the open adoption movement says that no adopter should be turned down. So if people have had several pets but none lasted till old age, they should not be turned down. If they kept them only until they wanted a cuter, younger one, they should not be turned down. This is criminal–but poor quality homes will pan out to be poor quality homes-and yes, some homes should be turned down. This was obviously one of them but this was likely one in a line of tragedies.
