Update: Rescued by K9 Kismet

Shelby came in as a stray to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center in California on October 31. The lonely shelter dog watches through the bars of her temporary shelter unable to comprehend the seriousness of her situation. Her compelling photo, captured by photographer and shelter volunteer John Hwang, captures a moment of her life – a glimpse into Shelby’s sadness as John leaves the shelter for the night.john-hwang-nov4

“After playing with her for some time, she could sense I had to go. This is always the hardest part, having to pull myself away. Seeing the sadness in her eyes, as I get up. She craves human affection so much, and she has so much love to give,” John posted on his Facebook page.
