A loving terrier mix, Coco has been at the overcrowded Miami-Dade Animal Shelter for more than 40 days. She watches carefully as families pass by; begging with her eyes, “Are you coming to visit me?” A shelter volunteer tells her heartbreaking story:coco Life is good

“It took me a little bit to go in; found her on a bed. Her face lit up when she saw me coming in. I promised her that she would be fine in a loving home soon. She is alone in this world, and it doesn’t have to be this way. Coco needs a home.”coco life is good 2

Sadly, Coco was surrendered with her sister by her family who adopted both dogs years ago.  Her younger companion has since been adopted, however it has been more than 40 days, and no one has stepped up for eight-year-old Coco. One can only imagine, the hope draining from her sweet face  since June 25, as would be adopters  pass her kennel with barely a look or even a reassuring word. A composite Facebook page for Coco can be found here.
