A report from a neighbor about dead dogs at a home in Rex, Georgia led authorities to a horrible discovery involving young children living in a house “littered in feces and urine.” According to Fox5Atlanta, on Sunday, the Clayton County Police received a call from a citizen concerning a dead dog left in a cage at a home located on Whitney Way.
When Clayton County Animal Control arrived, they found three dead dogs on the property including two puppies in a cage appearing to have starved to death. Believed to have been no more than six to eight-weeks of age, the pups had been dead for days and “were covered with so many fleas that it was hard to determine what color they were.” The adult dog had been dead for at least a month.
As detectives spoke with the suspects at the home, there emanated “an overwhelming odor of feces and urine throughout the home.” Upon inspection, officers observed garbage had been strewn all over the home and the garage. Three young children aged 10, 7 and 3 lived in the home. The Department of Family and Children Services removed the youngsters from the home who have since been placed with relatives.
The parents, identified as Ki-Kito Riki Townsend, 33, and Kristina Leigh Prince, 32, have each been charged with three counts of cruelty to children in the first degree and three counts of animal cruelty. Currently they remain in custody in lieu of $25,000 bond each.
