In an unwavering relationship of love and loyalty, beautiful Juneau refused to leave the side of her injured companion, Gulliver as he laid injured on the street. Juneau and GulliverEven as Animal Control approached, and Juneau could easily have fled from the scene, she quietly sat still; most likely grateful someone was able to help her friend. Injured and barely able to move, Gulliver was thankful for his companion’s devotion.Juneau and Gulliver 2

The bonded pair were taken to the Downey Animal Care Center on August 10. Tragically, the two have since been separated. A Facebook page for the dogs can be followed here.

“Gulliver is in the non viewable building being treated for a possible fractured leg. Juneau is in the adoptable building far from Gulliver. Gulliver is very urgent and Juneau not far behind. Please help the bonded love birds get out of Downey safely.” Juneau and Gulliver 4

Juneau #A4981749. My name is Juneau and I’m an approximately 5 year old female Siberian husky. I am not yet spayed. I have been at the Downey Animal Care Center since August 10, 2016. I am available on August 14, 2016. You can visit me at my temporary home at D525.

Please share the plight of Gulliver and Juneau with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contacts. Of course, it would be everyone’s first choice the dogs be adopted together, but saving their lives and making sure they are safe is the first priority. For more information about the dogs, contact the shelter located at 11258 Garfield Avenue in Downey, California. Phone: 562.940.6898.

  1. So Gulliver is being treated for a possible fractured leg and why can’t Juneau be closer to him ? She can still be viewed.. They been through enough already together, they dont understand she is heartbroken obviously the picture you can see Juneau is very sad..
Sharing for Juneau and Gulliver I hope they get adopted together that would be so so wonderful??

  2. I understand the injured dog must be in the medical area, but WHY separate them? A bonded pair should never be separated! AND the employees who talk to potential adopters should be aware they are a bonded pair!

  3. This VERY sad! sad! Article Just shows what a HELL HOLE DOWNEY “SHELTER” in The dysfunctional state of California is!!!! For an animal Placed there it is almost certain DEATH SENTENCE!!! I am not condemning the shelter STAFF ( IKNOW THYE DO THE BEST THEY CAN) it is the administration and the rotten policies and government that run the STATE itself that should be held accountable for the disaster at the California Shelters in General!!!

  4. Get them pups back together! Bonded pair should never be separated! They are all each of them know!! Shame on all who is keeping them apart

  5. the dog was proteting her best friend.the dogs are 4 legged kids wearing fur.she is living prove they are like human mates in real life.

  6. Such a shame they both trusted the rescuers to help them & there reward for being so trusting split apart that’s not fair that’s sad surely they could put them in separate cages but next to each other they must think that each other have abandoned them they both must be broken hearted ??

    • Unfortunately California ESPECIALLY CARSON & DOWNEY RUN THEIR SHELTERS in THIS HORRIFIC FASHION!!! They would rather KILL< MURDER< the pathetic, helpless and scared animals Dumped there by the CALIFORNIA GUPPIES ( who dump their pets so they can go on vacation or because they would rather spend the money on daily manicures than dog food). There are shelters in That pathetic, heartless state that are attempting to change BUT the Governor isn't much support!!! The state could save many of the animal's they kill at any given moment if THE POWERS that be would step up to the place and change the policy of allowing out of state RESCUES and adoptions, But NO they would RATHER Just KILL @ WILL!!! A dog / cat doesn't have much chance of survival in California Shelter"!

  7. They were both rescued together by Husky House. There is a youcaring account to raise funds to transport them to NJ. Please donate.
