When Shadow and Chloe were found running free, the two friendly dogs were picked up by Animal Control in Long Island, New York just previous to the 4th of July weekend. Shadow and Chloe

Shadow, a six- year-young male Rottweiler mix and Kloe, the two-year-old female Labrador retriever mix were the best of friends. Taken to the Brookhaven Shelter, it took days for the staff to track down their owner, and smiles appeared on everyone’s face, expecting the friendly duo to be reunited with their family.

“No I don’t want them back,” uttered their apparently heartless owner.

And now the two cry out in loneliness as they miss their family, their beds and everything familiar. On the Facebook page of Desperate Dogs of Long Island, who are helping share Shadow and Chloe’s plight, a volunteer reports the following:

“And now they cry in their kennel, and offer their paw to anyone that walks by- 2 shelter dogs with a wish, and that is to go to a home…together… They wait with hope, and this time they deserve forever- please share their story widely- and let’s find Shadow and Kloe….their angel.”Shadow and Chloe 2

Shadow, CC#16-54-5238 weighs 56 pounds; Kloe, CC#16-54-5239, weighs in at 40 pounds. Kloe is the more watchful of the two dogs; she keeps her eye on Shadow. Both are playful, good with other dogs, and eager to please. They have been described as very affectionate, they bond quickly, and all they need is love. Neither dog has been cat tested. If there are dogs in your family, you must bring them to the shelter for a “meet and greet.” Shadow and Chloe 3

The Brookhaven Shelter is open seven-days a week.  For more information, contact 631-451-6950 (when calling the shelter, please note the time of your call and with whom you spoke). Please share their story; sharing saves lives, and Shadow and Kloe certainly deserve better.

Our kids don’t have to worry about becoming strays in such a horrible fashion !! I hope these guys get a break although somewhat doubtful! The owner is due Karma!

  2. Keeping these abandoned babies in my prayers, I hope they find a loving home together to live out their lives. Shame on the former owners, it would seem they let them out to fend for themselves and hoped they would never be found.

  3. I hope they can be found a home together be a shame to separate them as they have been buddies for so many years.
