The body of a young pit bull was found inside of a suitcase on Monday night in Asbury Park, New Jersey, reported Wednesday’s NJ.com. The black nylon suitcase was discovered floating on Sunset Lake; attendees at a fireworks display made the grim discovery.
Inside of the Forecast suitcase was the decomposing body of a brown, male pit bull, and a button that reads, ““I (heart) Howard University,” reported NJ 1015 News. The Monmouth County SPCA performed a necropsy on the dog’s body – it was determined that the dog was approximately one year of age, though the exact cause of death could not be determined.
It is unclear at this point in time if the dog was killed, or if the dog died and someone attempted a water burial. Anyone with information about the dog, or this situation, is asked to reach out to the Monmouth County SPCA at 732-542-0040 or the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office at 732-431-6400.
