Update 7/27/16: Janko (aka Zeus) is safe/rescued. Donations for his veterinary care can be phoned to Miami Veterinary Specialists directly at 305-665-2820.

In March 2016, Janko, a young mastiff mix, had bright eyes and a happy smile. Fast forward to July 2016, the same dog is a shadow of his former self. On Tuesday morning, the LifeIsGoodWithDogs Facebook page wrote, “Look at his eyes, sitting in the corner, afraid of people, injured, alone. To the people that adopted him in March 2016, what did you do to Janko? He isn’t the same mischievous and loving dog I met at the old shelter. Shame on you for mistreating this innocent life.”

Only Janko and his former owner know what happened…what trauma took place to steal Janko’s joy and wound his young body. Janko is currently being held at the Miami-Dade Animal Services facility in Florida. Shelter notes indicate this young dog’s injuries, “multiple gn shot wounds to R hind limb proximal to hock, ventral area of neck, and ventral area of mandible.”

Please share Janko’s adoption information to help find a reputable rescue agency which can take him in and provide him with the love, veterinary care and attention that he desperately needs. Information to help this dog listed below:

  1. I know this is Florida, but is there any chance that they’ll pursue animal cruelty charges against the scumbag who adopted Janko and did this to him? I really wish someone would take that trash out for some target practice for what he did to this sweet, innocent soul!

  2. he was adopted then you know who adopted why not charge them with abuse not just post all over ..post so others will know not to adopt to these lowlifes and report the abuse

    • I am so upset over what this dog must have gone through. His before pic shows a dog full of hope ,eager to please, looking forward to fun times and love from a new family and what does he get? Horribly abused. How heartbreaking! And I agree with the other comments regarding serious punishment for those who adopted this poor trusting soul. Letting abusers fall by the wayside w/o consequences only adds to allowing it to continue.Whatever happened to the animal abusers list? It would be a sin to allow these abusers to take in another dog! Someone who is aware of this incident needs to grow a pair and step up to the plate for this dog and others.

  3. Miami Dade has a truly arcane system of working with rescues, ensuring that many dogs must die because they will not change their rules or keep the dog’s best interests as their primary purpose. I wish this poor dog the best.

  4. And why don’t they know who did this and charge them? At best Miami-Dade Animal Services is a poor excuse for a Shelter, No way should this dog be sitting there with gun shot wounds and nothing being done about it or the person responsible for this not being charged or at least an investigation to find out who did it! I pray for this poor dog!

  5. Can we start vetting just a bit more thoroughly instead of just getting all happy the minute someone walks in the door to adopt? Check out these people. This NEVER should have happened,

  6. Um a little confused here, he was adopted you obviously have the information as to who adopted him so charges haven’t been filed why??

  7. There is a record of who adopted him! Charge them with animal cruelty!!! ?Come on Florida step up to the plate and do the right thing for this poor soul.

  8. The adopters need a DNA on them. Praying for this sweet dog. Miami-Dade is a death sentence for too many dogs. Sharing.

  9. the owmer turns the dog in with gunshot wounds and the shelter does what? That’s a punishable crime and an investigation should be done. Rescuers need to contact the local news.

  10. I agree with concern…. this shouldn’t go unpunished. That same person may go to another shelter adopt another dog and torture it. Come on folks!!!!! ?

  11. Oh God, I HATE THIS WORLD! I HATE the evil that ALL those in charge of the rule of law are ALLOWING TO GROW UNCHECKED. ALL this WHILE sheriff’s deputies go on to PRIVATE property and SHOOT CHILDREN’S DOGS and NO ONE GIVES a SHIT! NO ONE! I DO wish someone would RELEASE several NUCLEAR BOMBS to extinguish the ENTIRE world. I can’t take this ANYMORE! Dear God, PLEASE INSPIRE SOMEONE TO SET OFF NUCLEAR BOMBS AND KILL ALL THIS EVIL.
