A $2,000 reward has been offered to find the person responsible for chaining and starving two dogs in Clayton County, Georgia. One dog survived, but the other dog, posthumously named Dreamer, died an excruciating slow and painful death. The story surrounding the plight of the two abandoned dogs captured national attention. Police are stating they do have a person of interest, but no arrests have been made at this time.

Animal control initially responded last week to an eviction notice at a vacant home on Denson Boulevard in Morrow where they found the two dogs chained outside. The dogs, not more than three years of age, had been left tethered in the rear of the home. At first glance, Animal Control thought Dreamer was dead – it was only when she flicked her ear that officers tried to save her. Tragically Dreamer died on the way to the veterinarian hospital

“Both dogs were extremely emaciated,” Clayton County Animal Control Commander Capt. Anthony Thuman said in a press conference Monday. “This is a horrific and disturbing case of abuse, and is being given the highest priority in our department,” reported the Facebook page, Justice for Dreamer in a press release.

Police have identified the last tenant at the home and intend to question him. According to Thuman, whoever is charged will face several counts of animal abuse that could lead to felony charges. Bonnie Wooden, an active rescuer and animal advocate, started the hashtag #JusticeForDreamer.  A YouCaring page has been set up to help find the person(s) responsible for the horrific deed, raise awareness for animal abuse and encourage people to speak up when they suspect animal cruelty. If Dreamer’s owner is not found, Bonnie wants the money used to rally against stronger anti tethering laws as well as spay and neuter programs.

The second dog rescued, now named Love, will be ready for adoption on Friday. dreamer-the-dead-dog-love

Rest in peace Dreamer.

  4. I hope Dreamer knew, even for a brief second, that someone was trying to help her. I have to believe that or it will send me over the edge. RIP Dreamer. I’m sorry you suffered, baby girl. I hope they find the POS who murdered you.

      • says she died on way too hospital*almost” too much to bear…. almost worse.. but not , I mean I am thinking same as you.. even the excitement of being found, handled could have stopped her heart… I feel sick.but yes she knew she was found..i hate these people so much. I am crying. everytime this happens I feel the same .. as if I was left to die..in humans hands I feel that way….. I feel helpless. I want to help them. if we don’t know what life is and how important it is..how will we care for each other? most humans these days seem more interested in sex as an abuse form than life itself… life with wagging tails love kisses and friendliness they seem to hate… where is God? it seems to be just us……and a horrific evil in our midst. I need help to become a warrior .. we all must.. and rid the earth of this evil forevermore for the memory of these dogs/children/animals. I absolutely cannot get over this. ive already seen it. its not fair and we cannot let innocence die with an ends justify the means spirit anymore.. we have to intervene NOW.

  5. They need tracking systems to protect all animals from people can you imagine the suffering these animals endured,in order to rent people should be photographed or fingerprinted we need to protect and save they are our friends R I P know that we cared❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

  6. I would like to know WHY didn’t the neighbors do something to save these dogs when they would have known about them? At least feed them and call someone way before they got so bad that Dreamer died!! And it’s people like that have no heart or compassion for animals not only the POS that left them to die!!????????????????

  7. Unfortunately it seems that the neighbours were uninterested or unwilling to get involved and help Dreamer and her sister.
