Update: Bunker is safe! On 3/21/20, the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter writes:

O.M.G. you guys ….. we are FLOORED by the amount of support, interest, and love from people willing to foster and adopt our animals during this unprecedented time. Our adoption and foster departments have working in overdrive to process all the applications coming in. If you haven’t heard from us yet, you will! So far, and just to name a few, the following lucky pets have found their fosters or adopters: Bunker, Gucci, Hachi, Juniper, Rocky, Xena, Bruce, Luna, Ajax, Vito and Castro!!!!! Say what!? 🙀 And more to come! Thank you thank you thank you! Shout out to @fosterdogs for promoting a bunch of our pups! 💋

Imagine waking up each day to the same stark walls of a kennel run. Imagine a dog, who was born with the desire to love a person, waking up each day without a person of his own to greet. This is the reality for Bunker, a dog who has spent over half of his life at an animal shelter.

The now four-year-old dog was taken in as a stray at the Town of Hempstead animal shelter back in 2017 – today he is still there. An advocate writes:

They call me BUNKER. I’m a 4 year old BEAUTIFUL BOY, that SADLY has been LIVING in this SHELTER for OVER 2 YEARS. That’s HALF MY LIFE. 😪

I’m DOG FRIENDLY (with slow intro’s of course). I LOVE PLAYING FETCH, TAKING WALKS, and ENJOYING my SURROUNDINGS, when I get to go out.

I’m a GOOD BOY that LOVES TO BE LOVED ON. The more you PET me, the more I’LL LOVE YOU!! 💕 Oh, I also take TREATS REALLY GENTLY.

I am recommended for a home with kids 17 yrs. old plus, so please COME MEET ME, FALL IN LOVE, and TAKE ME HOME! 💜
