A senior dog is homeless, and kenneled round-the-clock, after the death of his owner. The 11-year-old German shepherd mix, named “Fred,” is suffering an unfair fate after his owner’s death…through no fault of his own, he has lost a home, and the person who loved him, and today he is sitting at an animal shelter in New York.

Fred is the oldest dog at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter in Wantagh. He wound up kenneled at the facility after his owner died and a family member decided that he had to go…on the Facebook page which has been established to help find Fred a home, an explanation has been offered for Fred’s current situation:

My Daddy died 2 yrs ago and I went to live with my Uncle. It didn’t go so well, so my Uncle surrendered me to the shelter. I haven’t been doing too good here. I really need to go home ASAP.

Fred is described as both dog and people friendly and he is longing to leave his stark kennel run and join a real home, with a family who will love him for the rest of his life. Please help Fred realize that dream by taking a moment to network his information.

  1. I will be sharing this precious boy’s plight, I hope someone takes pity on him, he needs a loving home. I have to wonder how much of a chance his “uncle” gave him, pets that lose their owners need time to adjust, if he was acting out, time an patience would have done wonders for him.

  2. Screw the ‘family member’ who took Fred to the shelter! He probably got everything else from his brother, and discarded the most precious thing of all. Scumbag!
